Westlake Financial GAP Refund: How to Cancel and Get Your Money Back

Quick answer: Westlake's GAP addendum allows cancellation anytime. Within 30 days of purchase: full refund. After 30 days: prorated refund of the unused portion, less a $50 cancellation fee per their contract terms. On early loan termination, their agreement provides for the refund within 60 days.
How to cancel
Find the GAP administrator on your addendum. Westlake GAP waivers are commonly administered by Knight Management Insurance Services. The administrator's name and address appear on your GAP addendum — that's who you send your cancellation request to, not Westlake directly.
Submit a written cancellation request. The administrator may require your request by certified mail. Include your loan payoff proof and current odometer reading. Use our free refund letter template to get started.
Refunds on active loans are typically applied to your loan balance rather than sent as a check. If your loan is already paid off, the refund comes as a check to you.
What to watch for
The $50 cancellation fee. Westlake's addendum specifies a $50 fee deducted from your refund. If your refund is small, this fee can eat into it significantly.
Loan-balance-credit routing. If your loan is still active, the refund may be applied to your loan balance rather than sent to you as cash. This reduces what you owe but doesn't put money in your pocket.
30–60 day processing window. Westlake's agreement provides for refunds within 60 days. If you don't receive your refund or confirmation within that window, follow up in writing.
