Oregon GAP Insurance Refund: Automatic Under ORS 646A.781
Last reviewed: August 2026
Quick answer: Oregon law (ORS 646A.781) requires the cancellation refund to be provided without requiring the borrower to apply when the finance agreement terminates. Voluntary cancellation, however, requires a written request within 90 days. The refund is a pro-rata portion of the unearned purchase price.
Oregon requires your refund automatically when your loan ends — no request needed.
If your loan ended early and the refund never arrived, your lender is overdue. You can still demand it in writing.
